Moving from Traditional to Lean Leadership in Product DevelopmentJim Luckman, Lean Transformations GroupDate: Monday, September 19Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4 p.m. with lunch and breaks.€795 for full day workshop Over the past decade, many companies have begun serious efforts to move their product development processes towards a lean PD model. The most important step has been recognizing that product development is the process of building and reusing knowledge of the product and the process. The lean revolution in most companies began in the manufacturing area. Here the principles of lean are more basic and focused on the tools that enable the organization to eliminate waste and improve quality in the production flow. How can we bring these two apparently different perspectives together and create a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement throughout our companies? Leaders need to recognize their role in this transition and move from traditional to lean leadership to link the lean initiatives in manufacturing and product development. There are some core leadership capabilities that can be developed, cultivated, practiced, and applied to join the initiatives as one value-creating stream and enable a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement. Through presentations, exercises and deep reflection on the technical and social sides of problem solving, this program will introduce the principles and practices of lean management and leadership that are essential to that effort.
